CONSERVATORSHIP - Conservatorship of the Person (Nationwide) - With or Without Temporary orders - Conservatorship of the Person is a court-ordered legal arrangement where a conservator is appointed to make decisions about an adult's personal care and well-being, including healthcare, housing, and daily living, when that adult is deemed unable to do so themselves.
This type of conservatorship is typically used when an adult lacks the capacity to make decisions regarding their personal needs, such as food, clothing, shelter, medical care, and overall well-being.
The conservator of the person is responsible for ensuring the conservatee's safety, well-being, and basic needs are met.
There are two main types of conservatorships:
- conservatorship of the person (focusing on personal care), and
- conservatorship of the estate (managing finances).
The person who is under conservatorship is referred to as the "conservatee"
A conservatorship is established through a court proceeding, where a judge determines the need for a conservator based on evidence presented.
Does not include any filing fees or court costs.
